From European pilgrimages to Vatican City to Assisi, clients will discover a sense of personal renewal
The days surrounding the Easter celebrations can mean a lot of different things to different people. Some use the days to spend time with loved ones, a quest for self-renewal, or to expand their horizons and travel to places awash in spirituality and peaceful contemplation. With Insight Vacations, an award-winning global leader in premium escorted travel, now guests can do all that and more.
Europe is brimming with religious iconography, spiritual communities and sacred shrines for the faithful, history buffs (or the curious) to visit. Insight wants to treat guests to the kind of journey where these awe-inspiring locations, that inspire many pilgrimages, are truly VIP experiences not available to most guests. Whether their travels take them to the Vatican Museums, the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, or Our Lady of Fátima in Portugal, guests will be sure to walk away from these journeys with a peaceful sense of personal renewal.
“Our clients can embark on these sacred and ancient routes across Europe where throughout the centuries, millions of pilgrims embarked on these journeys of a lifetime,” said Pieter Beyers, General Manager of Insight Vacations. “Insight Vacations offers these meaningful and authentic cultural experiences to these historical sites where modern travellers can enjoy a peaceful sense of personal renewal and stress-free travel.”
Journey to Italy on this 9-day treasure hunt through the trove of cultural riches and authentic cuisine offered throughout the regions. While in Rome, guests will gain exclusive fast-tracked VIP entry into the Vatican Museums with a Local Expert who will walk them through the Papal art collection, before enjoying a VIP after-hours look at the Ethnological Museum led by a museum curator. Guests will be taken into the Sistine Chapel to marvel at Michelangelo’s masterpiece, and into the stunning Museo Gregoriano Profano, which documents moments and themes in classical art. After exploring the museums, guests are invited to dine in the Vatican’s elegant Cortile del Giardino Quadrato to enjoy a private VIP Celebration Dinner while having the good fortune of looking out to the cupola of St Peter’s Basilica during the meal.
This 14-day journey begins in Rome with VIP access to the Vatican museums, plus a once-in-a-lifetime behind-the-scenes look at the Bramante Staircase, a spot not open to the public. The staircase incorporates the original spiral stairs built in 1505 and a second built in 1932, designed for uninterrupted traffic in each direction. Once in Assisi, guests will traverse the home town and burial place of St Francis, and what is the most important Franciscan pilgrimage destination in the world with a very welcoming community. In 1224, St Francis received the stigmata during a vision of Seraphic angels, according to Christian tradition. This made him the first recorded person in Christian history to bear those wounds of Christ. A Local Expert will direct them up Mount Subasio before visiting the Basilica of St Francis which was named a UNECSO World Heritage Site.
There are a great many religious sites throughout Portugal, but none are so revered as the renowned Fátima. On this 12-day trip through Portugal, guests will be escorted to one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, famous for being the site of multiple apparitions of Mary to three shepherd children in 1917. The Chapel of the Apparitions has millions of visitors every year. From there, guests will be taken to the Templar Castle and Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The convent is surrounded by the walls of the Castle of Tomar, which used to belong to the Order of the Templars and was founded in 1160 by the grand master of the Knights Templar.
