Posted: 11 Oct 2018 fastjet launches flights between Maputo and Quelimane
Mozambique’s value airline fastjet, operated by Solenta Aviation Mozambique, is on sale with its new Maputo Quelimane route today. The airline will initially connect the cities with 4 weekly returns on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the intention of growing into daily frequencies. The first flight is scheduled for 29 October 2018. The Maputo Quelimane route replaces fastjet’s flights between Nampula and the Mozambican capital, which will end on October 28. Fastjet flights between Maputo and Quelimane are on sale from 6 890MZN.
“While our route between Maputo and Nampula is suspended at the end of October,” says Mozambique country manager Susana Ribeiro, “the new route between Maputo and Quelimane is expected to attract positive passenger numbers as trade, business and leisure travel continues to increase between the two cities.” Fastjet will be suspending the route between Maputo and Nampula due to lower than expected route performance resulting in sub-economic returns for the airline. Ribeiro adds that travellers can expect the same high standards of on-time performance excellence from fastjet. “Until now our network punctuality rate has reached a 90% average across our network, and it continues to be a priority to transport our customers efficiently and on-time.”
This weekend fastjet was awarded its third World Travel Award in a row as a leading African value airline. Last year the airline was also awarded a Skytrax World Airline Award. “We believe in constant and never-ending improvement, and our growing awards tally is testament to fastjet’s daily endeavour to ensure that we deliver an affordable, reliable and quality service,” adds Ribeiro. The new route between Maputo and Quelimane will offer travellers the same award-winning standards of hospitality and efficiency.
Flights between Maputo and Quelimane commence on 29 October 2018 with tickets on sale at www.fastjet.com, fastjet shops and travel agents. The last flight between Maputo and Nampula lands on 28 October 2018.
