11th consecutive win for Beachcomber as top Air Mauritius supporter

Beachcomber Tours SA is celebrating its 11th consecutive year as No. 1 partner for Air Mauritius in the South African market. The tour operator was awarded the title of Air Mauritius’ top supporter at a glittering event in Johannesburg recently, themed “In the Clouds with Air Mauritius”.

Not only did Beachcomber Tours SA walk away with the most coveted award of the night, the team also scooped up several others, including:

• Top Travel Smart Marketing Partner 2018
• Top Travel Smart Partner for 2018
• Top Groups Partner 2018
• Top Committed Seats Partner Mauritius 2018
• Top Cape Town partner 2018
• Top Performer for 2018

Announcing the winners, Air Mauritius Regional Manager South Africa and Latin America, Carla da Silva, thanked the dynamic and innovative travel industry in South Africa for supporting Air Mauritius.

“The travel trade in Southern Africa represents a host of dynamic leaders who understand travel and business very well. We sincerely thank all our stakeholders for your valued partnership, support and loyalty,” she said.

According to da Silva, the airline is well on its way to becoming a R1bn operation in South Africa.

“I am very proud to say that Johannesburg will have wide-bodied operations on a daily basis with A350-900s and A340s effective 1 April. Durban will remain with thrice-weekly frequencies and Cape Town with two wide-bodied frequencies weekly,” said da Silva, who is credited with playing a personal role in shaping the close partnership enjoyed between Beachcomber Tours South Africa and Air Mauritius.

Accepting the awards with gratitude, Beachcomber Tours SA Managing Director Terry Munro thanked Carla for always offering her full support in every way possible.

“Air Mauritius has been very proactive with marketing ideas, as well as the forward sales of seats to tour operators in peak periods. This has made it possible for us to maximise sales. It is also the only airline with direct flights from Cape Town to Mauritius which is another huge plus factor,” he said.

Beachcomber’s management team was on hand to accept all the top awards during the evening, including the group sales and marketing awards. “I am pleased our talented and dedicated management team could attend the awards evening, so we could celebrate our consistent success together.

“This is the 11th year in a row we have achieved the number one position from Air Mauritius for sales revenue in the Southern African region and I am incredibly proud of the efforts of our entire team and the support from our travel industry friends and partners, which has once again made this important victory a reality.”
