Posted: 3 May 2019 Insight Vacations Cares and Luxury Gold Cares Launch Global Volunteer Day in Celebration of Earth Month and Insight’s 41st Anniversary

In partnership with TreadRight and One Tree Planted, team members worldwide plant trees and give back to their communities

As the month of April is dedicated to celebrating Earth Month, April 11th marked a special day for Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold. The sister brands and the TreadRight Foundation launched Global Volunteer Day to celebrate Insight’s 41st anniversary and Earth Month, with team members around the world making a concerted effort to give back to their local communities. Together with Insight and Luxury Gold’s existing partner, One Tree Planted, a leading not-for-profit organization focused on global reforestation whose mission is to create a world full of trees, some regional teams participated in a tree-planting day, while other teams engaged in other Earth Month activities including picking up litter and cleaning up shorelines.

In South Africa, on April 11, the Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold teams hosted two tree planting events in Soweto and Goodwood where 21 TTC team members volunteered together to plant trees.  Food and Trees for Africa assisted the teams by identifying worthy schools, purchasing the trees and teaching everyone how to plant them on the day.

As part of The Travel Corporation’s (TTC) family of brands, Insight Vacations Cares and Luxury Gold Cares are founding members of the TreadRight Foundation. These brands are aligned with TreadRight’s three key pillars as they share a collective desire to conserve and protect the planet, wildlife and people of the local communities visited through their immersive journeys. Along with One Tree Planted, Insight has committed to planting one tree in California for every guest who chooses to receive their travel documents electronically as e-Documents and Luxury Gold made the same commitment in India.

“Prior to our Global Volunteer Day initiative, which marked Insight’s 41st anniversary, more than 40 acres of trees had been planted on behalf of Insight Vacations, Luxury Gold and our valued clients,” says Ulla Hefel Böhler, Global CEO of Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold. "Thanks to the sustainable choices made by our guests every day and the Global Volunteer Day efforts by our team members worldwide, an additional 10-plus acres of trees will be planted through the first quarter of 2019 alone.”

“The Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold teams have once again shown how we can all work to make travel matter for people, wildlife and the planet,” says Shannon Guihan, Program Director, The TreadRight Foundation. “Thanks to TTC’s commitment to providing team members two paid volunteer days every year and their partnership with One Tree Planted, we are all able to create positive impacts for our communities. A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers and our partners at One Tree Planted for their inspiring work."

With 21 dedicated team members onboard in Cape Town and Johannesburg, Insight and Luxury Gold have successfully planted 60 fruit trees (peach, plum and apricot) at the Protea and Vulamazibuko schools respectively.
