Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of UNESCO's heritage sites best known for its Mountain Gorilla populations and gorilla tracking although, it also offers some of the finest montane forest birding in Africa and is a key destination for any birder doing a Safari to Uganda. It is home to roughly half of the world's mountain gorillas.

Known for its curative healing powers, Kitagata Hot Springs have attracted many people here. Even hospitals in Uganda refer patients here and there are widespread stories of miraculous healing.

The Nyero Rock paintings are found in three rocks helters near the town of Kumi. The paintings can be dated back to the Later Iron Age, although little is known about the people who painted them. Some of the paintings represent animals, concentric circles and canoes.
