The landlocked country is bordered by Ethiopia to the east; Kenya to the southeast; Uganda to the south; the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the southwest; and the Central African Republic to the west; and the Republic of Sudan to the north. South Sudan includes the vast swamp region of the Sudd formed by the White Nile, locally called the Bahr al Jabal. | |

Visa Requirements
Visas are required by South African passport holders.
NOTE: Some nationalities may be able to apply online: www.evisa.gov.ss. This currently does not include South Africa.
REQUIREMENTS:Applications to the embassy may be sent via courier, or in person.
- 1 Completed visa application form (5A) - legible and in capital letters. Double-sided copies will not be accepted.
- 2 Recent passport photos (colour and original and clear)
- Passport (valid for a minimum of 6 months) with 1 blank page in the passport, plus photocopy.
- Proof of payment of visa fee
- Copy of Yellow Fever certificate/vaccination
- Proof of sufficient financial resources: bank statements, or sponsor / guarantor in Sudan
- Return air ticket
- Letter from employer
- For business visa: letter of invitation, proof of business appointments
